Santa Cruz: Constant Actions to Maintain Clean Beaches

Huatulco's Municipal Government, via ZOFEMAT, conducted a beach cleanup in Santa Cruz with community participation, collecting 40 kg of waste.

As part of the bi-weekly efforts to keep our beaches clean and in optimal conditions, the Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, led by Eng. Julio Cárdenas, through the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (ZOFEMAT), carried out a cleaning day with the participation of street vendors, Naval Hospital personnel, and local residents.

These actions primarily aim to keep the beaches free of waste, mostly organic debris carried by tides and litter generated by visitors. The presence of such waste can cause adverse effects on the marine-coastal environment, such as foul odors, proliferation of vectors, and visual deterioration of the beach.

  • Results of the cleaning day:
  • Organic waste: 29 kg
  • Inorganic waste: 11 kg

The constant maintenance of our beaches is fundamental to preserve their environmental, tourist, and social value, reaffirming the collective commitment to a clean and sustainable Huatulco.
