Within the framework of the Second Edition of the "Wings of Huatulco" Bird Festival, and in commemoration of World Migratory Bird Day and World Wetlands Day, the Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, presided over by Eng. Julio Cárdenas, through the Directorate of Sustainability, held the awards ceremony for the Bird Photography Contest.
This contest aimed to promote citizen participation and strengthen socio-environmental awareness, highlighting the importance of conservation and the recognition of biodiversity in our municipality. It is worth noting that, after plants, birds rank second in species richness in Santa María Huatulco, with over 200 species including endemic, migratory, and resident birds.
In the General Public category, the winners were:
- First Place: Víctor Manuel García Vázquez.
- Second Place: Shane Sater.
- Honorable Mention: Julio César Carreño Santos.
With these actions, the Municipal Government reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of activities that foster respect, conservation, and pride in Huatulco's natural wealth.
