Huatulco Participates in the 6th Beaches Meeting 2026!

Huatulco joined the 6th Beaches Meeting 2026 to strengthen the conservation and certification of its beaches.

The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco participated in the 6th Beaches Meeting 2026, held in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. The event was organized by the Mexican Institute of Standardization and Certification, A.C. (IMEEC), in coordination with the host municipality.

This national meeting brought together authorities from all three levels of government, certifying bodies, specialists, and representatives of the tourism sector to exchange experiences and strengthen best practices for the conservation, management, and certification of Mexican beaches.

Through presentations, working sessions, and Platinum Guardians activities, Huatulco’s delegation shared experiences and gained tools to strengthen the protection of its coastal ecosystems and compliance with environmental certification criteria.

It is worth noting that Huatulco is home to El Órgano Beach, the only beach in the country certified under standard NMX-AA-120-SCFI-2016: Sustainable Clean Beach, in the priority-use category for conservation. This distinction reflects the commitment to protecting our natural heritage and positions the municipality as a national benchmark for beach conservation.

Municipal President Eng. Julio Cárdenas, together with the ZOFEMAT Directorate, strengthened ties of collaboration with other destinations and specialized organizations. He also received the distinctions awarded to the certified beaches in our municipality.

Through these actions, the Municipal Government reaffirms its commitment to maintaining and strengthening certifications, improving beach management, and protecting the natural resources that distinguish Huatulco.
