Huatulco Participates in the First National Drill 2026

Huatulco participated in the First National Drill 2026, strengthening emergency prevention and response with the community and various sectors.

The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, presided over by Eng. Julio Cárdenas, participated this May 6 in the First National Drill 2026, held in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the National Civil Protection System.

This exercise took place in government offices, both in the Municipal Palace of Santa María Huatulco and in the Municipal Agency of Santa Cruz Huatulco, under the coordination of the Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters, with the participation of Public Security and Traffic.

Responsibly, hotels, commercial establishments, the Red Cross, educational institutions, and citizens also joined, thereby strengthening the culture of prevention and response capacity in emergency situations.

The drill hypothesized an 8.2 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter on the coast of Guerrero. During the exercise, citizens received an emergency message accompanied by an audible signal on their cell phones, as part of the preventive actions implemented nationwide.

As a tourist destination, Huatulco reaffirms the importance of promoting preventive actions that contribute to providing greater safety for both Huatulco families and national and foreign visitors.

The Municipal Government recognizes the participation of all sectors that joined this exercise and reaffirms its commitment to continue working in a coordinated manner for the safety and protection of Huatulco families.
