Strengthening Community-Based Tourism at FESTUR Huatulco 2026

FESTUR Huatulco 2026 promoted community-based, sustainable tourism through the exchange of experiences and development strategies.

As part of the activities of the 5th Huatulco Tourism Festival (FESTUR 2026), a keynote presentation on community-based tourism was delivered by Lic. Angelina Martínez, General Coordinator of Expediciones Sierra Norte. She shared the experience of Oaxaca’s Pueblos Mancomunados as a successful model of organization, community participation and sustainable tourism development.
During the event, held at Hotel Coral Blue with the support of the Huatulco Hotel Association, participants discussed strategies to strengthen the tourism offering, preserve natural and cultural heritage, and promote training and professional development for tourism service providers in our municipality.
The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, led by Eng. Julio Cárdenas, continues to promote opportunities for learning and the exchange of experiences that contribute to responsible, participatory and sustainable tourism development, creating new opportunities for our communities.
