To prevent fraud and protect residents’ personal information, a Community Outreach event was held in Arroyo Xúchitl, where guidance was provided on smishing, a type of scam that uses text messages or WhatsApp to deceive people and obtain personal or banking information.
During the event, attendees received recommendations on avoiding suspicious links, not sharing personal information with unknown senders, verifying messages directly with the relevant institution, and learning emergency and reporting numbers. The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, headed by Engineer Julio Cárdenas, continues to bring prevention and information initiatives to communities throughout the municipality.
