The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, presided over by Eng. Julio Cárdenas, through the Health Directorate, held an informative talk within the framework of World Chagas Disease Day, under the motto “Women at the heart of care: Protecting the next generation from Chagas disease,” reinforcing prevention and control actions against this important public health problem that primarily affects vulnerable populations.
During the activity, the importance of timely detection, access to treatment, and community participation was highlighted, as well as the strengthening of prevention and epidemiological surveillance strategies, including the application of protocols such as thick blood smear sampling in at-risk girls and women, with the aim of identifying cases early and protecting the health of future generations.
