This Saturday at 4:20 PM, lifeguards from the Civil Protection of the Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco rescued a 64-year-old tourist from the state of Puebla, who was drowning in Maguey Bay after leaving the safe swimming area.
Thanks to the rapid action of the municipal personnel, as well as the valuable support of people who were on the beach and nurse Itzel Buendía, the citizen was stabilized, who retained vital signs and remained conscious. He was placed in a recovery position and subsequently transferred by ambulance to a clinic for medical evaluation.
This event reminds us of the seriousness of the swell phenomenon, which currently affects our coast and represents a real risk for swimmers and small boats.
From the Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, we reiterate the call to the population and those who visit us to follow the official recommendations and take extreme precautions at all times. The safety of everyone is our priority.
