Blue Flag Once Again Recognizes Huatulco's Commitment

Huatulco reaffirms its leadership as a sustainable tourist destination with the renewal of the Blue Flag for its beaches and Eco-Schools recognition.

Huatulco reaffirmed its leadership as a sustainable tourist destination during the Blue Flag Hoisting Ceremony and the presentation of the international Blue Flag and Eco-Schools awards, recognitions granted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
Chahué, Santa Cruz, and Pescadores beaches renewed their Blue Flag distinction for the 2026–2027 season, while José Vasconcelos Primary School received the Eco-Schools recognition, consolidating Huatulco's commitment to environmental conservation and fostering an environmental culture from the classrooms. We appreciate the presence of Lic. Diego Díaz Hernández, Director of Operations and Finance of the Foundation for Environmental Education Mexico; Dr. Filemón Manzano Méndez, head of the SEMARNAT Representation Office in Oaxaca; C. Alejandro Liborio Arrazola, director of the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (ZOFEMAT); and Prof. Soveck Santiago García, director of José Vasconcelos Primary School, for accompanying us in this important event.
Special recognition goes to the staff of the ZOFEMAT Directorate, whose permanent work in cleaning, conserving, and caring for our beaches is fundamental to maintaining these international distinctions.

The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, presided over by Eng. Julio Cárdenas, will continue to promote actions that protect our natural heritage and strengthen Huatulco as a national and international benchmark for sustainable tourism.
