Beach Cleanup Day at Maguey Beach

The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco and ZOFEMAT, with Maguey Beach vendors, conducted a cleanup, collecting 11.830 kg of waste.

The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, presided over by Eng. Julio Cárdenas, through the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (ZOFEMAT) and in coordination with the vendors of Maguey Beach, carried out a cleanup day with the aim of strengthening environmental culture and fostering co-responsibility in the use and care of this important coastal area.

This cleanup day had special significance due to the active participation of the beach vendors, who joined the collective effort to preserve the natural environment and maintain this tourist destination in optimal conditions.

During the activity, 11.830 kg of inorganic waste were collected, including:

PET

Styrofoam

Glass paper

Glass bottles

Bottle caps

In addition to improving the beach's image, the cleanup allowed for the identification of critical points of waste accumulation, which raises greater awareness about the environmental impact of daily activities and reinforces the commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable Huatulco.
