Santa María Huatulco, Oaxaca, October 2025. — With the aim of highlighting the promotion, social participation, and environmental commitment actions that consolidate Huatulco as a benchmark for sustainable and collaborative tourism in the state, the Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, through the Oaxaca State Secretariat of Tourism (SECTUR OAXACA), the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), and Huatulco National Park (CONANP-Huatulco National Park) held the 4th Tourism Festival in Santa Cruz Huatulco from September 29 to October 8.
During ten days of activities, FESTUR 2025 offered spaces for learning, coexistence, and environmental action aimed at strengthening environmental education, responsible tourism, and community integration, including beach cleanups, a photography contest and exhibition, bicycle rides, release of sea shells, conferences, wildlife knowledge workshops and 'paint your alebrije', sunrise kayak tours, scientific bird monitoring and banding, snorkeling, hiking, marine wildlife viewing by yacht, tram tours, sea turtle monitoring, Zapotec sunrise, sand guards, community experiences, gastronomic samples, a forum held at the Universidad del Mar Huatulco campus, and concluding with a traditional 'calenda'.
FESTUR Huatulco 2025 saw active participation from local authorities, educational institutions, environmental organizations, tourism service providers, and the general public.
Thanks to this joint effort, environmental culture was strengthened, the care of coastal ecosystems was promoted, and the community was sensitized to the importance of conserving the natural resources that sustain the destination's tourism.
FESTUR promotes strategies that foster responsible, inclusive, and sustainable tourism, where nature is the central axis of development.
