Report Verified at Puente de Coyula and Families in Risk Zone Preventively Evacuated

Huatulco Civil Protection verified a report at Puente de Coyula. No landslide occurred, but 20 people are preventively evacuated due to rain risk.

Upon receiving an alert regarding a possible landslide in the community of Puente de Coyula, Civil Protection elements from the Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco immediately went to the site to verify the situation.

Fortunately, no landslide occurred; however, due to the intense rainfall persisting in the region and the risk of water accumulation, it was detected that several homes are located in highly vulnerable areas.

Therefore, a preventive evacuation is being carried out for at least 20 people residing in risk zones, including an elderly person living near the river. The evacuated individuals will be transferred to the temporary shelter set up in the “20 de Noviembre” neighborhood, where they will receive shelter and care from the relevant personnel.

From the Municipal Government, we issue an urgent and responsible call to all citizens residing in risk zones anywhere within the municipal territory to evacuate preventively and prioritize life in the face of this climatic contingency. We continue to work with commitment and unity to safeguard the families of Huatulco.
