Underwater Cleanup Day at Playa Violín
The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco conducted an underwater cleanup at Playa Violín, collecting 3 kg of waste to preserve marine biodiversity.
The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, committed to the conservation of the natural environment, carried out an underwater cleanup day at Playa Violín, coordinated by ZOFEMAT, as part of actions to preserve marine biodiversity and maintain the environmental quality of the coastal ecosystem, a pillar of the region's tourist and natural appeal.
This activity aimed to mitigate the impact of non-biodegradable solid waste —such as plastics, glass, metals, ropes, and fishing lines— which severely affect marine species like fish, sea urchins, turtles, corals, and reefs.
Thanks to this effort, 3 kilograms of inorganic waste were collected, including highly contaminating materials such as metal, glass, PET, and cans.
With concrete actions like this, the Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, presided over by Eng. Julio Cárdenas, reaffirms its commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable, and environmentally responsible Huatulco.
