Today, Huatulco became a national example of environmental commitment by hosting the 2025 National Beach Cleanup Event, as part of the National Strategy for Beach and Coast Cleanup and Conservation of Mexico 2025–2030, promoted by SEMARNAT and ECOCE A. C.
From early morning, citizens, authorities, schools, tourism service providers, and organizations joined forces to carry out a simultaneous cleanup day on the beaches of Chahué, Arrocito, La Entrega, Maguey, Tangolunda, Santa Cruz, and Pescadores.
During the official ceremony, the Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, presided over by Eng. Julio Cárdenas, signed the Commitment Letter officially adopting its coastal shoreline, reinforcing actions to prevent pollution, eliminate single-use plastics, properly manage waste, and monitor progress on the National Monitoring Platform.
With these actions, the Municipal Government, through ZOFEMAT, reaffirms its leadership in sustainable tourism, social development, and environmental conservation.
