Huatulco Progresses in Territorial Planning
Huatulco's Municipal Government participated in the formal establishment of the Planning and Regularization Board to coordinate actions for families in conservation areas.
The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, led by Mayor Julio Cárdenas, participated in the formal establishment of the Planning and Regularization Board for Huatulco, an inter-institutional space that seeks to coordinate actions among the three levels of government to address the situation of families settled in conservation areas or on land that was part of Fonatur's heritage. In this initiative, the municipality was represented by the Syndic's Office, the Cabinet Office, the Public Works Councilorship, and the Municipal Planning, Urban Development, and Housing Directorates.
The establishment of this board was formalized through the signing of a collaboration agreement between federal, state, and municipal agencies.
The Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) leads this effort, with the participation of the National Institute of Sustainable Land (INSUS), the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (Conanp), the National Fund for Tourism Development (Fonatur), the National Guard, and the Government of the State of Oaxaca.
From the Municipal Government, led by Mayor Julio Cárdenas, we reaffirm our willingness to work together to advance towards an orderly Huatulco, with legal certainty for families and full respect for the natural environment.
